Your questions, answered

What would you like
to improve?

Start with what is happening in your business. Find the question that sounds familiar, then see how I can help.

Product & growth

Everyone wants a different feature. How do we decide what to build?

I work with you to connect customer needs, revenue opportunities and delivery effort. Together, we agree which problems are worth solving, who makes the decisions and what can wait. That may mean changing how product decisions are made, rather than adding another layer of management.

Your investment follows clear priorities, with a team that understands why the work matters.

How do we know an idea is worth investing in?

I help you test the customer need, shape the offer and examine the costs and route to market before committing to a full build. We identify the assumptions that could make or break the idea and choose a proportionate way to test them.

You get evidence for the investment decision and a clearer basis for proceeding, changing direction or stopping.

Every new customer needs something different. How do we grow without costs growing as fast?

I look at what customers have in common, where custom work adds value and where it creates ongoing support costs. We shape a more repeatable offer, with clear choices about pricing, configuration and exceptions.

You can make better decisions about which sales support profitable growth and which commitments will stretch your business.

We keep adding features, but customers aren’t using them. What should change?

I help you explore what customers are trying to achieve, where they get stuck and what usage, support and commercial evidence tells us. We can then decide whether to improve the product, simplify the offer or help customers get more from what already exists.

Your effort goes towards customer value and adoption, with measures that show whether the change is helping.

How could we reach more customers without building a much larger sales team?

I help assess whether a more repeatable offer, existing customer relationships or relevant partnerships could open a practical route to growth. Where cloud partner programmes fit, I can help assess eligibility and prepare the commercial case. Access to incentives and opportunities depends on the provider.

You get a focused route to test, with clear costs, responsibilities and evidence of commercial progress.

Delivery & teams

Everyone is busy, but important work keeps slipping. Where is the time going?

I follow work with your team to understand support demand, interruptions, waiting and repeated effort. We compare that with priorities and available skills, then address the constraints that matter most. The focus is on improving the work, rather than measuring how busy individuals appear.

You can see what is consuming capacity and make informed choices about what to stop, simplify or resource differently.

We keep missing delivery dates. How do we make commitments we can keep?

I bring planned development, customer promises and support demand into a realistic view of capacity. We examine changing priorities, dependencies and how work moves through testing and release, then agree smaller commitments and clearer trade-offs.

You get a more credible delivery plan, earlier warning of problems and better conversations with customers and stakeholders.

Do we need more people, or could we get more from the team we have?

I help compare demand with your team’s skills, responsibilities and the way work is organised. We look for avoidable work, development needs and gaps that genuinely require additional capacity. Recruitment becomes one option within a clearer plan.

You can target hiring and development where they are most likely to improve delivery.

Too many decisions come back to me. How can the team take more ownership?

I work with you and your managers to clarify outcomes, decision boundaries and when something needs escalating. We connect those expectations to practical coaching and development, so people have the confidence and capability to act.

Your team can make more day-to-day decisions while you retain visibility of the issues that need your attention.

Our suppliers and internal teams keep passing problems between them. How do we fix that?

I follow the work across organisational boundaries and make ownership, dependencies and acceptance criteria explicit. I help you agree how delivery, testing, handover and support will work together, then review performance against those commitments.

You get clearer accountability and a shared way to resolve problems that are delaying delivery or affecting customers.

Costs & reliability

Our cloud bill keeps rising. How do we bring costs under control without hurting the service?

I help connect spending to usage, customer demand and service performance. We identify waste, challenge design and supplier choices, and prioritise changes by likely saving, effort and operational risk. My cloud modernisation experience helps connect those technical decisions to the commercial picture.

You get a prioritised cost plan that accounts for reliability, capacity and the cost of making the changes.

Our systems are expensive to maintain. Should we improve them or replace them?

I help compare the cost and risk of keeping, improving or replacing each system, including its effect on customers and future growth. We challenge estimates and test whether the expected benefit justifies the disruption and investment.

You get a clearer business case and a sequence of decisions that fits your budget and capacity.

Our old software slows every change down. Can we modernise without a big-bang replacement?

I help identify which parts of the application create the most friction and plan manageable improvements around them. We agree testing, transition and recovery arrangements with the people who operate the service, so customer continuity is part of the plan from the start.

You get a staged route to easier change, with clear review points and controlled commitments.

As we grow, administration and handovers keep multiplying. How do we stay efficient?

I trace work from the customer request through delivery and support to find duplication, delays and unclear ownership. We simplify the process before deciding whether automation or new technology would help. Changes can start in one area and expand as the evidence supports them.

You get a practical way to reduce avoidable effort and make growth easier to support.

The same IT issues keep coming back and disrupting stores. How do we break the cycle?

I look at how tickets are reported, prioritised and resolved, alongside their impact on trading. I help your team distinguish repeat symptoms from underlying causes and agree who will address them, including external providers.

You get clearer priorities and ownership, with progress judged by fewer repeat issues and less disruption to trading.

Why do customers spot service problems before we do?

I help your team connect service monitoring with the customer journeys that matter. That means identifying useful signals, reducing unhelpful alerts and making responsibility for investigating and responding clear. We look at what happened during real incidents to find the gaps.

Your team gets better evidence to detect and diagnose problems, with a clearer route to protecting the customer experience.

Useful, responsible AI

Where could AI save us time, and how do we know it is worth the cost?

I help choose a real task, establish today’s cost and quality, and run a small trial. We include checking time, mistakes, integration and ongoing fees when assessing the result. Product research, planning, development and support may each offer different opportunities.

You get a grounded decision about where AI adds value and where a simpler process would work better.

Our team is already using AI. How do we protect our data and the quality of our work?

I help review the tools in use, what information they receive and how their outputs are checked. Working with the relevant specialists, we agree practical access rules, supplier checks and human review across product planning, coding, testing, release and support.

You get a clearer, controlled way to use AI and evidence for decisions about expanding it. The controls are proportionate to your risks; they cannot remove every risk.

Making improvements stick

We have tried improvement programmes before. How will this make a lasting difference?

I start with an outcome your business cares about and build on what already works. We make a manageable change, put responsibility with the people who will sustain it and review the evidence together. These are the practical ideas behind Beyond the Framework.

You get an improvement people can own and adapt as the business changes.

There are lots of problems. Where should we start?

I help you separate symptoms from causes and compare their impact on customers, cost and growth. We choose a useful starting point based on evidence and what you can realistically change. A focused problem does not need a whole-business assessment first.

You leave with an agreed priority and a practical next step.

How will I know whether the work is paying off?

Before we start, we agree the outcome and record a useful baseline. Depending on your goal, that might be time to deliver, cost to serve, repeat incidents, customer adoption or time lost to rework. We review progress alongside the effort and cost of making the change.

You can judge the work by its business effect and make informed decisions about further investment.

What if we make a change and it does not improve things?

We compare what happened with what we expected, check the assumptions and decide whether to continue, adapt or stop. Keeping the initial commitment manageable gives us room to learn without locking you into a large programme.

Your next decision follows the evidence, with a clear point to change course.

Working together

A larger customer wants security evidence we cannot easily produce. Could this hold up the sale?

It can expose gaps in ownership or evidence as well as technical controls. I help bring the requirements into sales and delivery planning, coordinate the right specialists and organise a realistic response. We distinguish what is already in place from work still needed.

You get a clearer view of readiness and commitments your business can support. This is not a security certification or a guarantee of compliance.

I need someone who can connect the business goals with the technical detail. Is that where you help?

Yes. I work with founders, technical directors and business leaders to connect commercial priorities with product, technology and team decisions. I bring more than 20 years of leadership experience and work directly with you and your people.

You get practical support that makes technical choices understandable in terms of cost, customer value, risk and growth.

We have plenty of recommendations already. Will you help make things happen?

Yes. I can work alongside your people to turn an agreed priority into delivery, clarify responsibilities and help build the capability to sustain the change. We agree the role you need me to take and how we will review progress.

You get hands-on support for an agreed outcome, with ownership clear from the start.

Can we start with one problem before committing to anything larger?

Yes. Send me a few lines about what is happening and what you would like to improve. We can explore a focused assignment and agree scope, time and fees before any work starts. An enquiry does not commit you to an engagement.

You have a straightforward way to explore the fit and decide whether to take a first step.

About the research and what these figures mean

McKinsey’s The state of AI: On the road to ROI surveyed 1,719 respondents in 97 countries; results were weighted by each country’s contribution to global GDP. The 80% and 37% figures measure different self-reported outcomes, not percentage increases in productivity or profit.

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report draws on more than 1,000 global employers representing over 14 million workers across 55 economies. The 63% figure reflects employers’ views of barriers over the survey’s five-year outlook.
